Record a program on your DVR

You can record a program using the Record button or Select (center) button on your remote control. You can also record from the Live Guide or from search results.


Recording a program using the Record button on the remote control

You can press the Record (red) button on your remote control to set an on-the-spot recording of any live TV program you're watching.

1. Tune to a program on live TV

2. Press the Record button on your remote control. The DVR recording is now set. You'll see a confirmation pop-up on your screen. dvr-impulse-remote-button-1-.jpg


Recording a program using the Select button on your remote control

1. Tune to a program on live TV

2. Press the Select (center) button on the remote control.  This action brings up the DVR recording dialog on your screen. Select Record This Show or Record This Movie.

3. Using the directional pad and the Select (center) button on your remote control, make any changes to your recording settings.  

You can change the recording deletion options in the Record menu. Select Space Needed to automatically delete if your DVR gets full, or I Delete to save the recording indefinitely.  

If you want to adjust the recording times, or set a higher recording priority, select Advanced Settings.

Select Saved Settings when you're done.

 4. The DVR recording is now set. You'll see a confirmation pop-up on your screen.

Recording a program using the Live Guide

1. Open the Live Guide by either:

  • Pressing the Guide button on the remote control
  • Opening the Main menu and navigating to the Live Guide

2. Using the remote control's directional pad, navigate to the TV show or movie you'd like to record. Then press the Select (center) button on the remote control. 

3. Using the directional pad and the Select (center) button on your remote control, make any changes to your recording settings.

You can change the recording deletion options in the Record menu. Select Space Needed to automatically delete if your DVR gets full, or I Delete to save the recording indefinitely.  

If you want to adjust the recording times, or set a higher recording priority, select Advanced Settings.

Navigate to and select Save Settings when you're done.

4. The DVR recording is now set. You'll see a confirmation pop-up on your screen.


Recording a program using Search 

1. Open the Layer3 TV Search menu by either:

  • Pressing the Search button (magnifying glass) on your remote control
  • Selecting Search from the Main menu

2. Using your remote control's directional pad and the onscreen keyboard, type your search into the Search box.  You can search for a title, actor, or network. dvr-search-4.jpg

3. If Live appears in the search result, then you can record the program. Using the remote control's directional pad, navigate to the TV show or movie you'd like to record. Then press the Select (center) button and select Record on the following screen.
