Set up your Layer3 TV Set-Top Box and Lite Boxes

First, check to make sure you received all the equipment you ordered. Your package should include:

  • Set-Top Box
  • Power supply
  • HDMI cable
  • Ethernet cable
  • Remote control with two AAA batteries

If you ordered any Lite Boxes, they will be in their own packages. Each Lite Box will have its own power supply, HDMI cable, and remote control with batteries.

Setting up the Layer3 TV Set-Top Box

  1. Identify the installation location for your Set-Top Box. It should be close to your router, or to an Ethernet port in your wall.

  2. Plug one end of the HDMI cable into the HDMI Out port on the back of the Set-Top Box, and the other end into an HDMI port on your TV.


  3. Plug one end of the Ethernet cable into either of the Ethernet ports on the back of the Set-Top Box, and the other end into an Ethernet port in your router or wall.


  4. Plug the power supply into the port on the back of the Set-Top Box, then plug the other end into a power outlet.


  5. Turn on your TV and select the HDMI input you used in Step 2. When you see the Layer3 TV logo followed by a loading screen with colored dots, please call 844-LAYER3TV. One of our Cable Concierges will have you up and running in just a few minutes.


  6. Insert the two AAA batteries into your remote control. To set up your remote control with your TV, see How do I control my TV with my remote control?

  7. When you see the Select a User screen, select the desired profile and begin enjoying TV that learns you!


Setting up a Layer3 TV Lite Box

Lite Boxes are wireless, so you can place them anywhere you have a TV!

  1. Make sure that your Layer3 TV Set-Top Box is powered on before you install your Lite Box. The Lite Box communicates with the Set-Top Box to receive video.

  2. Plug one end of the HDMI cable into the HDMI Out port on the back of the Lite Box, and the other end into an HDMI port on your TV.


  3. Plug the power supply into the port on the back of the Lite Box, then plug the other end into a power outlet.


  4. Turn on your TV and select the HDMI input you used in Step 2. You should see a loading screen with colored dots.


  5. While the Lite Box loads, insert the two AAA batteries into your remote control. To set up your remote control with your TV, see How do I control my TV with my remote control?
  6. When you see the Select a User screen, select the desired profile and begin enjoying TV that learns you!
